Bald Ridge Creek Campground – Cumming, GA – Site 57

The Quick Rundown

Time of Year: Early August

Site: 57

Where Would We Stay Next Time?: 56, 57 & 58 were all great sites with easy water access. Walking the park, this is the full list of our favorite sites: 30, 31, 42, 43, 44, 56, 57, 58, 69, 70 & 71.

Waterfront Site: Yes

Length of Stay: 3 Nights

First Time Visit or Return Trip: Return Trip

Rig: 36′ Fifth Wheel

Cell Provider – Coverage: Verizon – Hit or miss. Service is stronger in some areas of the campground, like near the playground.

TV Antenna Coverage: Great Coverage – Multiple Channels Found

Cost ($,$$ or $$$): $ ($36/night – COE Campground)

Accessibility: Easily Accessible

Location: Rural area, mostly residential nearby but only about 10 minutes from downtown Cumming

Pros: 1) The Lake & Beach Area 2) Playground 3) Waterfront Sites

Cons: It’s hard to find any… this is one of our favorite campgrounds for a reason. The water access from our site was extremely muddy this time, which made it difficult for the kids to get in the water from the site… but with a great beach a short walk away, that wasn’t a huge deal.

Bathhouse Rating (The Ritz, The Holiday Inn or The Motel 6): The Motel 6 – Typical COE bathhouse (but very clean)

Would we go Back?: Yes 100%, we’ll be back next season. It’s still one of our favorite local campgrounds. Make sure to follow along with us on Instagram (@fifth.wheeling) for our past and future adventures!

The Long Rundown

We’ve been camping at Bald Ridge Creek COE campground since we got our first travel trailer in 2017. We’ve tried almost all of the COE campgrounds on Lanier, Allatoona & West Point Lake. We’ve always liked this one because of the really nice beach area and great playground for the kids. The sites are also really private and shaded for the most part. There are a ton of really nice sites right on the water (see list of favorites above). To get these sites, you have to book about 6 months in advance. For our August 1st trip, we booked on February 13th and only had a couple of our favorite options left. We typically do 3-day weekends and stay from Friday evening through Monday morning. We started doing this a couple of years ago and absolutely love staying that extra day. For us, 2 nights just doesn’t feel like enough time with all of the effort it takes to pack up for the trip. Plus, we love walking the campground on Sunday when most people have left and checking out our favorite sites. Extra bonus is we avoid the long dump line on Sunday’s 😎.

We did a lot of relaxing this trip. School was starting that next week and we wanted to just soak in the last weekend of summer. The girls did some swimming, fishing & lots of playground time. We hung out at the site, which was almost fully shaded at all times, and just watched the girls play. We also got to meet the current campground hosts, who we connected with through Instagram & were really nice to talk to! It’s fun putting faces to some of the RV community we’ve “met” through Instagram.

There isn’t a bad “loop” of sites in this campground. Previously we’d always been in the loop by the beach. This time we were in-between the beach and the boat ramp. It was a great location and the longest driveway we’ve had at a site, which helped it feel really private. We would definitely do site 57 again, or try out 58 which looked fantastic as well.

Definitely reach out with any questions you have on this campground and make sure to follow along on Instagram (@fifth.wheeling) for pictures from these trips and all of our future adventures!

Happy Camping!
